Statutory Numbers for Preference Immigrant Visas
This bulletin summarizes immigrant visa availability in January 2024 for “Final Action Dates” and “Filing Dates” indicating when applicants should submit documents to the National Visa Center.

Visa Allocation Process
Consular officers report applicant demand and USCIS reports adjustment of status applicants. Allocations were made in chronological order by priority date when possible based on demand received by December 4th, 2023. If demand exceeded supply for a particular category or country, it was deemed oversubscribed and subject to retrogression.
- Family-sponsored preference visas are limited to 226,000.
- Employment-based preference visas are limited to at least 140,000.
- Per-country limits are 7% of total family-sponsored and employment-based visas, or 25,620.
- Immigrant visas are issued to eligible applicants based on the priority date when a petition was filed on their behalf.

- F1: Unmarried children of U.S. citizens – 23,400 visas plus unused F4 visas
- F2A: Spouses and minor children of permanent residents – 77% of 114,200 visas
- F2B: Unmarried adult children of permanent residents – 23% of 114,200 visas
- F3: Married children of U.S. citizens – 23,400 visas plus unused F1-F2
- F4: Siblings of adult U.S. citizens – 65,000 visas plus unused F1-F3
