Q&A: What credit score do you need for a PayPal Credit®?

Updated on April 19, 2024

Question: What credit score do you need for a PayPal Credit®?

Answer: PayPal Credit® is a bit unique since it’s a digital, reusable credit line, and it’s integrated with your PayPal account. When it comes to the credit score needed, there isn’t a strict, publicly disclosed minimum. However, many s have reported being approved with credit scores in the mid-600s and up. But, as with most credit options, the higher your score, the better your chances of approval.

But here’s the kicker: your credit score isn’t the only thing PayPal considers. They’ll also take a look at your overall financial health, including your income, payment history, recent credit inquiries, and other debts. So, if you’re hovering around the mid-600s but have a solid financial track record, you might still be in the game. On the other hand, even if you have a stellar score, other factors could influence the decision.

If you’re thinking about applying, it’s always wise to take a peek at your credit report first. Make sure everything’s accurate, and perhaps consider ways to give your score a little boost. And just a heads up: applying for PayPal Credit® will result in a hard inquiry on your credit report, which might cause a temporary dip in your score.
